Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) Consulting CEO Aashish Gupta said there is uncertainty within the industry about the impact of the Omicron variant with different inputs coming in from different places regarding its severity and speed of spread. “The first scene is that everybody is on alert mode but there is no panic mode because the information itself is not creating panic. The Uttarakhand government aims to boost the economy and the state’s tourism sector through homestays, which are on their way to being prepared in the villages also. Around 3,600 homestays are registered so far providing employment to about 8,000 people, TAAI said in a statement. 1.05 crore domestic air passengers in Nov, 17% higher than Oct: DGCA

Around 1.05 crore domestic passengers travelled by air in November, 17.03 per cent higher than the 89.85 lakh who travelled the month before, the country’s aviation regulator said on Friday. While IndiGo carried 57.06 lakh passengers in November, a 54.3 per cent share of the domestic market, SpiceJet flew 10.78 lakh passengers, accounting for a 10.3 per cent share of the market, according to the data shared by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Go First (previously known as GoAir), Air India, Vistara, AirAsia India and Alliance Air carried 11.56 lakh, 9.98 lakh, 7.93 lakh, 6.23 lakh and 1.20 lakh passengers, respectively, in November, the data showed. DGCA reduces visibility threshold for Kolhapur Airport’s flight operations: What it means for tourism around Maharashtra’s Kolhapur region

Kolhapur Airport: Relief to all the travelers wanting to fly out from or to areas around the Kolhapur Airport in Maharashtra! The Director General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) has upgraded the licence of Kolhapur Airport to ‘Day-IFR’. With this, flights would be able to take off from and land at the Kolhapur Airport even when the visibility is just a little more than 3,000 metres, down from the previous threshold of clear visibility of more than 5,000 metres. This means that the airport would now be able to operate flights in the early morning hours and at twilight, which would naturally mean that more flyers would be able to catch flights from the airport. The licence is timely, as well, since the Kolhapur region has been witnessing low visibility this month due to the fog from rains and cold. The licence would not only help in increasing the number of flights operating at Kolhapur, but would also reduce flight delays, diversions and cancellations at the airport. If the weather conditi
